Asheville Food Park

The Asheville Food Park sits on a slice of land between Duke Power easements, the Moore Branch flowing into the French Broad River, Amboy Road and State Street in West Asheville. Envisioned as Asheville’s first Food Truck Park and Pop-Up Shop with outdoor gathering spaces along the river and Carrier Park, the complexities of this site included plat issues related to access, flood mitigation, COA regulations for food truck operation, building and land use limitations related to the floodway, and limited space for improvements.

Our team started by working with our Client, the Architect, Duke Power, and the City of Asheville Development Services to understand regulatory parameters affecting the site, studied and analyzed the existing condition to look for opportunities and understand constraints, then prepared plans that met the Client’s desire for programmatic elements and eventually for City review and approval. The result is a vibrant place with a mix of colorful food trucks, great food & drink, and atmosphere.
