The Gallery can be rearranged many different ways. Please see the ReadMe.htm file for further instructions.

This is the same module as the previous with a few altered settings. The gallery is now created from an xml file instead of a directory. Also the gallery has been attached to the smooth scroller 2 module.

Customizing

Open the thumbnails module and set imagesFromDir

Editing

When editing your website, right click over Gallery thumbnails and "Select a File" and choose an xml file of images. You will find the example gallery.xml file in the data/xml directory. Flashblocks ML will take care of the rest, creating both thumbnail and full size images to the specified dimensions.

The Quotes Module fades in and out displaying a list of quotes to the visitor. The speed at which each quote is displayed varies depending on the length of each quotes text and the speed that the designer designated while designing the website.

This Module allows the administrator to easily add, delete and rearrange items, all from withing Flashblocks ML.

Scroll through and select the product that you wish to learn more about. Then select the product from the description area, on the right, to add that item to your PayPal shopping cart.

This example is, once again, created by the List Module. The contents are the same as those found in the previous example Although this time, on the right, there is an additional movie clip, that displays the full text from the original list. As before products may be added, rearranged, edited, and deleted by the administrator.

The List Module powered News feed allows for many more options then previously available. Display news in a running list or, as in this example, display just the headlines, with additional viewable details, as in the News 2 example that follows.

All three of these News Example are reading from the same file, list_news.xml.

The News Module and RSS Subscription Module work well together allowing your visitors to view your latest news and subscribe via RSS feed.

Administrators may edit multiple news files, in RSS format, right from Flashblocks ML, adding, deleting and rearranging news items.

Right-Click or press Ctrl+Shift while your mouse is over each module to see editing options.

It's easy to create this gallery in Flash with Flashblocks ML. All you need is a directory of images or a single XML file and everything will be resized and created for you.

Editing from a Directory

When editing your website, right click over the Gallery thumbnails and "Select a Directory" of images. Flashblocks ML will take care of the rest, creating both thumbnail and full size images to the specified dimensions.

Designing

Just drop the "Gallery thumbnails" movie clip onto the stage and give it a unique instance name. Resize it to the dimensions you wish for the scrolling thumbnails.

Then drop the "Gallery full size image" movie clip onto the stage and give it a unique instance name. Resize it to the dimensions you desire for your full size image.

Customizing

Open the movie clips, "Gallery thumbnails" and "Gallery full size image". You will see many option for customizations. Please see the ReadMe.htm file for further instructions.

This Template example uses individual external XML data files for each template instance.

Edit the menu below and change the template from horizontal to vertical layout. The image will automatically resize and crop to fit the new template. Text will auto wrap to fit the new template.

On this page you will find two PayPal Modules. Both allow the visitor to easily add items to a PayPal shopping cart.

The first example, on the left, is created by the List Module. It is very powerful allowing for products to be added, rearranged, edited, and deleted by the administrator. Scroll through and select the product that you wish to add to you PayPal shopping cart.

The second example, on the right, is less dynamic but even easier to add to your website and even simpler to edit.

HUTCHUTCH KERNS

Hutch Kerns is the founder of Kerns Landscape Architecture, and has been practicing landscape architecture and land planning for 14 years. His experience includes large-scale planning and amenity design on the west coast (as a tier-one consultant with VITA), urban design, master planning, mixed-use retail centers and high-end residential design in western North Carolina.

Hutch began his career in Alaska as a landscape architect working for four years on public streetscapes, parks and schools. He has been guiding Kerns Landscape Architecture towards a responsive practice by adhering to a design process and providing a high level of detail to each of the firm’s projects. Hutch’s experience in careful project management has provided for the firm a steady growth path, and clients with exceptional design and service. He is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and received his degree in Landscape Architecture and Urban Design from Auburn University.

DAVE MERRIFIELD

Dave Merrifield brings a unique skill set and perspective to the team with his background in Environmental Engineering and object design. While always interested in architecture and site design starting in 1993 Dave opened a studio designing and building sculptural furniture. His pieces are exhibited in many galleries, museums and private collections across the country. Notably one piece is part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Dave’s finely honed sense of detail and understanding of construction techniques distinguish his projects at Kerns Landscape Architecture, particularly his vehicular and pedestrian bridge designs. Now passionately pursuing his interest in site and landscape design at Kerns he draws extensively on his experience as an engineer, self-taught furniture maker, and designer/builder of two homes. Dave is ever inspired by natural materials and how combined and arranged they can influence the places we live.

PETE WALL

Pete Wall is a landscape architect who focuses his talents and balanced approach on site and garden design. His background includes working directly with clients to envision their projects, collaboration on multidisciplinary design teams, and carefully crafting finish details. He is committed to the development of projects that are refined, contextually engaged, and expressive. He holds his Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture from Utah State and is a registered Landscape Architect in the State of North Carolina.

Before beginning graduate work in Landscape Architecture, Pete received a degree in Recreation Management from Appalachian State University, with a focus on Outdoor Experiential Education and Public Lands Management.

CAROL MEYER

Carol, the Office Manager at Kerns, describes herself as "the glue that holds the creative staff at KLP&D together." She happily contributes her business acumen, managerial experience, & people skills to the firm. She attended Bucknell University and received her business administration degree from William Tyndale College.

VISIONING : creating style

Visioning is a collaborative effort between our design team and the client focused on defining long-range goals and objectives. In short we visualize the design direction of the project. During this phase, the design team generates ideas about the style, aesthetic and experiential characteristics of the project. Whether a small private garden, a public park, mountain resort, or community neighborhood, we think big and use our design experience and sensibilities to articulate future vision.

SITE ANALYSIS : understanding the land

The analysis phase involves an extensive study of the physical attributes of the land (soils, geology, topography, vegetation, etc.) and cultural issues, (traffic, land use, setbacks, utilities, building condition, etc.) in order to gain an understanding of the land. This information is typically illustrated through a series of site analysis maps.

CONSTRUCTION : from planning to the details

After completing our designs we remain an integral part of the project through construction. Our most succussful projects are ones that we have an active construction administration role in. By spending time in the field we can make final adjustments to the design and adaquately address any questions that a contractor may have.

DESIGN : generating ideas and relating vision to the land

The design process creates definition and detail to the conceptual ideas and goals of the project. Detailed drawings and specific styles are established during this phase.

PLANNING

Planning defines the long-term development or conservation of an area. During this phase we help establish relationships between clients objectives and regional goals. Land-use planning is often guided by laws and regulations such as zoning.
